Bridging the Past and Future
The Strait Area Museum is committed to conserving and promoting the heritage and history of the Strait Area by engaging, educating, and entertaining residents and visitors from diverse communities while providing opportunities to deepen the understanding of past choices, present circumstances, and future possibilities.
Members of the Port Hastings Historical Society have been preserving the history of the greater Strait Area since the first meeting held in 1978. Initially, the history of crossing the Strait of Canso was researched and then documented. Following that, it was the construction of the Canso Causeway and Canal in preparation for the 25th Anniversary of the Official Opening Celebrations.
