On Route 19, the Ceildh Trail, Port Hasting is the first community after crossing the Canso Causeway. Here you can stop for your ‘Ciad mile failte’ (100,000 welcomes) at Tourism Nova Scotia’s Visitor’s Information Centre, Visit the Strait Area Museum or explore the only lighthouse in Canada built in a graveyard! From here, the Ceilidh Trail hugs the Northumberland coastline for 45km all the way to Port Hood which is known as the ‘Beach Capital of Cape Breton’ because of its five public sandy beaches!
