The setting is classic, the food is superb, the service is sincere…

The natural place to begin the Cabot Trail, and to explore the best of the Island!

“An allee of Scotch pines leads to a white shingled lodge with a sunny dining room. Tucked away on 250 acres of woodlands and fields are cabins with screened verandas and porch swings. The owner takes great pride in his food and lodgings. The chef Ruth Ann Hart’s nightly menu focuses on Atlantic salmon, lamb raised along the Margaree, and vegetables from the Normaway garden. Eat early on Wednesday in the summer. At eight o’clock the emcee introduces Cape Breton recording stars at the Normaway’s converted barn.”
Travel & Leisure

“For magnificent emerald headlands, exceptional fishing, and sipping whiskey by the evening fireside… then you have found your spot. The Normaway Inn, one of the premier lodging houses on the island. Grab a mountain bike at the Normaway… find the nearby Margaree River one of North America’s best salmon spots.”
Men’s Journal

“Innkeeper David MacDonald is an island enthusiast; his aim is to please his guests while helping them discover the real Cape Breton. His Normaway Inn offers country fare, and does so with flair.”
