This is Cape Breton’s rolling heartland, where the highlands meet the lowlands along the shores of the island’s beautiful inland sea- the Bras d’Or Lakes. A circular route, the Bras d’Or Lakes Scenic Drive can be started and ended at a variety of points. We’ve chosen a counter-clockwise route beginning at Whycocomagh, which is centrally located with easy access to all of the Cape Breton travelways. You will pass through communities around the perimeter of the Lakes such as Orangedale, Malagawatch, Dundee, St. Peter’s, Big Pond, Eskasoni, Iona, Washabuck, Christmas Island, Barrachois Harbour, Little Bras d’Or, Boularderie, and Baddeck.
